Course content
Over four online sessions we’ll use practical activities that will help you to live beautifully in moments of uncertainty by making active choices to show up and engage.
That’s playing the scene you are in and it helps you show up for everything that life and work has to offer you (even when you feel afraid).
We will use activities, exercises and games from the worlds of authentic relating, applied theatre and improvisation that are deceptively simple, and bring you into the present moment like nothing else. It’s a style of learning based on playful experimentation and practice (lots of practice) that helps the learning to stick, even in a short time.
These highly interactive online workshops (4 x 2 hours) offer a space for personal and professional development where you can try out new ways of showing up with other people who are doing the same.
The aim of the course is to help you find more courage, connection and aliveness in everyday conversations and day-to-day work.
Be here & now
We learn best from direct experience when we are listening and enjoying ourselves, and have good relationships with the people around us. So we create learning spaces that are all about human connection and that feel both playful and mindful.
Improvisation is the root practice for playing the scene you are in because the skills and mindset that improvisers use on stage are a great resource for anyone who wants to:
- be a great listener
- authentically connect with other people
- stay present (even when you feel afraid)
- make active choices, even in moments of uncertainty
- enjoy more creativity and flow
What you will learn
In an engaging session that is imaginative, immediate, whole-hearted and fun, participants in this workshop will:
- Learn to listen on multiple levels (self, other, all)
- Connect with others using humour and generosity
- Experience the benefits of calm, centred attention
- Practice including others in their space
- Make active choices in the moment
You’ll get practice with skills and tools you can use immediately, and we’ll explore some principles of improv, such as: making your partner look good, trusting your impulses, being willing to share control, and daring to be obvious.
See our blogs on improv-inspired professional development.
