Improv for beginners Copy

An introduction to a style of improv that feels easy, joyful and authentic.

Over six weeks, immerse yourself in a world of improv through engaging activities, captivating stories, short scenes, and lively discussions.

Each session is carefully crafted to not only entertain but also to help you tap into your creative side, fostering a sense of spontaneity and playfulness.

Why Improv?

Improv is not just about making people laugh; it’s a powerful tool for personal and professional growth. Our course is designed to take you on a journey of self-discovery, helping you let go of perfectionism and embrace the beauty of creating in the moment.

Through the art of improvisation, you’ll find yourself building confidence, enhancing your communication skills, and unlocking a world of possibilities.

Course Highlights:

Over six weekly evening sessions, you’ll learn the art of comedy improv through a series of fun and engaging exercises designed to build your skills and confidence. You’ll enjoy thinking on your feet, collaborating with others and bringing your unique perspective to every activity.

We’ll help you discover a world of improvisation that feels easy, natural and human. So if you’ve ever seen improv that felt  bit ‘try hard’ don’t worry – that’s not our style.

We find that when people show up as themselves and connect with each other it leads to moments of joy, laughter and drama without trying too hard.

It’s a great way to make new friends, build confidence and get in touch with yourself while laughing, learning, and creating with others. You might also find that improv gives you a bit more courage and inspiration for the way you show up in everyday life.

Who is it for?

There’s no need to be funny. Or interesting. Or clever. Or an actor. Those are the biggest myths of improv. Just come along as you are and we’ll help you enjoy a more heartfelt style of play that is all about truly being in the moment with other people.

Rather than looking at improvisation as comedy which narrows the focus, we see it as a fine show of generosity, support and commitment that naturally leads to humour. Oh the humanity!

These introductory classes are suitable for anyone, with or without experience of improvisation. There’s always more to learn and enjoy.

There is no performance at the end of the classes, it’s just for the lucky people in the room!

Improv for all

Improv is for everyone so you don’t need any acting or improv experience to take part. It’s not stand up so you won’t be doing stuff on your own. It’s collaborating and co-creating in the moment.

Many of the best things in life come with butterflies. So if you fancy this, but you’re a little unsure about whether it’s for you, contact us for a chat.

Our little community has a bunch of amazing classes and shows coming up, plus guest teachers from around the UK coming to Suffolk!
