Intro to Improvisation

A short introduction to improv for absolute beginners.

Immerse yourself in a world of improv with joyful activities, stories, short scenes, and lively discussions.

Improv is for everyone so you don’t need any acting or improv experience to take part. If you’re curious to give it a try this is the perfect place to start.

This course has changed from June 2024 to an active waitlist. Please sign up if you’re interested and we’ll confirm dates when 12 people have signed up.

In these sessions on Friday evenings you’ll get to meet new people and tap into your creative side for a greater sense of spontaneity, connection and play.

Along the way you’ll find that it helps you to build confidence, be more creative and feel alive in the present moment.

Why take an improv class?

Improv isn’t just about making people laugh, it’s a powerful tool for personal and professional growth.

This short course will take you on a journey of discovery – helping you to let go of perfectionism and worry so you can spend more time laughing, learning and creating.

It’s not stand up so you won’t be doing stuff on your own. It’s about collaborating, creating, listening and having fun in the moment.

We use improv in training for leaders, teams and groups in some cool companies, so you might get more out of this than you expect!

Who is it for?

Improv is for everyone. We aim to provide an environment that feels fun, friendly, safe and supportive for everyone.

Check your clichés: improvisation isn’t about being funny, fast or interesting. It’s not even about being good. There’s so much more to improv than that. It’s a live, collaborative human art based on listening and being open to what happens, and our style of improv is playful, joyful, hopeful and mindful.

We find that this style of improvising naturally leads to moments of magic without anyone trying too hard, or feeling under pressure. In fact it’s quite the opposite and it will feel relaxed and doable. You might surprise yourself.

In these two sessions we will use a range of fantastic activities, games and exercises that have been honed over years of running improv classes and workplace training.

There is no performance at the end of the classes, it’s just for the enjoyment of the people in the room!

Once you’ve done the intro sessions you are invited and encouraged to join us at our weekly drop-in classes. Currently these are in Woodbridge but we’re looking at adding a drop-in class in Ipswich on Friday nights later in the year.

On the other hand if you’re just curious about improv – then that’s great too and we’d love to meet you.

Want to see some improv?
There’s no better way to get a feel for our style of improv that to see us in a show. We don’t do local shows all that often but we do have one coming up in Ipswich on May 16. Tickets here.
